JOINT ENTRANCE EXAMINATION –
JEXPO 06

ADMISSION TO POLYTECHNICS IN WEST BENGAL
FOR
ACADEMIC SESSION 2006-2007
Applications
are invited from the candidates in prescribed form for admission to 1st
year Diploma Courses in (42) Polytechnics in West Bengal for the academic
session 2006-2007 through a Joint Entrance Examination (JEXPO-06) to be
conducted by the West Bengal State Council of Technical Education, 110 S N
Banerjee Road, Kolkata – 700 013. The
Examination is scheduled to be held on Sunday, the 9th April 2006 ,
consisting of Mathematics ( Full Paper – 3hrs. duration), Chemistry (Half Paper
– 1.5hrs. duration) and Physics (Half Paper – 1.5hrs. duration). A merit list
will be prepared on the basis of the result of the Joint Entrance Examination. The
Institutes where students can be admitted and other general information are
available in the instruction booklet to be provided with the application form.
Eligibility : Applicant/(s) must be
Indian citizen and should have passed Madhyamik or equivalent Examination
recognised by West Bengal Board of Secondary Education. Candidates due to
appear in the Madhyamik or its equivalent examination in 2006 with Math,
Physical Science and English may also apply. An applicant must not have been
born before 1.1.1985 (for SC / ST – 1.1.1982.)
Submission of Application : Candidates willing to appear in the Joint Entrance Examination
(JEXPO-06) should fill in application in prescribed form which shall be made
available together with the instruction booklet on and from 21.11.2005 to 21.12.2005 from the Polytechnics listed below on all working days
between 11a.m and 4 p.m and Saturday between 11a.m and 1 p.m ( Sunday and
holidays excluded ) on cash payment of Rs.225/-.
Application form once purchased can not be taken back or exchanged. Candidates
interested for admission in (42) Polytechnics may also view the ‘Instruction for admission to Polytechnics’
in the website on and from 21.11.2005 The address

Application form duly filled in is
to be submitted to the receiving centres (as mentioned in the instruction
booklet) on all working days excepting Saturdays / Sundays and gazetted holidays
on or before 23.12.2005 Candidate/(s) intending to obtain the application form and
instruction booklet by post should forward a written request addressed to Secretary,
West Bengal State Council of Technical Education , 110 S N Banerjee Road, Kolkata
-700 013 enclosing therein a demand draft for Rs.225/- purchased in favour of ‘West Bengal State Council of Technical
Education’ payable at Kolkata along with a self addressed stamped envelop (
25cm. X 13cm.) affixing there on a postage stamp worth Rs.25/- for receiving
the application form by Registered Post. The request for Application Form
should reach the said office on or before 21.12.2005 Application Forms duly filled in
may be sent by post to the Council’s Office at 110
S N Banerjee Road, Kolkata -700 013 so as to reach by 26.12.2005 Forms may also be
purchased after the due date of 21.12.2005 on payment
of Rs.275/- (Rs.50/- as late fee plus the cost of form i.e. Rs.225/-) from the
Council Office at 110 S N Banerjee Road, Kolkata -700 013. between 26.12.2005 to 06.01.2006 and may be submitted at the Council’s Office at 110
S N Banerjee Road, Kolkata -700 013 on all working days between 11 AM to 2 PM
on or before 13.01.2006. The Council
shall publish a merit list on the basis of the results of the JEXPO – 2006 and
as per vacancies merit listed candidates will be required to appear before
counselling in phases at specified place, date and time for admission to
Polytechnics. Admissions to
Polytechnics are subject to fulfilment of eligibility criteria. The State
Council does not publish any separate result and shall not entertain any
request for post publication scrutiny, inspection and review as, this
provisions are not available. Mere submission of application for appearing in
the Joint Entrance Examination (JEXPO-06) and / or securing a rank in the merit list does not
guarantee admission to any Polytechnic.
